Covid-19: safety advice for Thyon ski resort

The winter we are about to experience will be different from previous seasons as there will be different measures in place. You'll still be able to enjoy yourself, you just need to follow a few simple procedures to protect yourself.

Measures for managing the pandemic are evolving on a weekly basis, so we are counting on your understanding when it comes to the changes we are making to ensure your safety and that of the resort's employees.


 

Our measures for your safety

Moving within the station


It is mandatory to wear a mask at all times in the following areas (Collons 1800, Collons 1850, Collons 1900, Thyon 2000).

Ski area and skilifts

Ticket offices

  • Wearing a mask is mandatory for customers inside the ticket office and in the queues (outside and inside).
  • Wearing a mask is mandatory for staff.
  • Ground markings have been made to ensure physical separation.
  • Hand sanitiser is available at checkouts.
  • Maximum number of people allowed inside is indicated at the entrance of the Thyon 2000 and Masses ticket offices.
  • 1 person per family at the till.
  • We highly recommended you buy your ski passes online to avoid queues at the till,  ski passes are cheaper online (10% off for any purchase 10 days before your first day of skiing)!
 

Ski lifts

  • Wearing a mask is compulsory in queues, when boarding and on every ski lifts.
  • There are no plans to limit the number of visitors to the ski area unless otherwise required by the confederation and/or the canton.
  • Ground markings have been made to ensure physical separation.
  • Hand sanitiser is available as you board the ski lifts.
  • The resort has many ski-in/ski-out entry points. Take advantage of free car parks and our shuttle bus network to limit your waiting time and be first on the slopes.
 

Packages

Daily and weekly packages

Conditions for compensation in the event of closure due to government measures (imposed by the Canton and/or the Confederation) to combat the pandemic: a refund in proportion to the number of days skied.

Anyone who has received a credit note on their 2019/2020 pass is not entitled to any refund or extension of their credit note.


Seasonal/annual packages

Conditions for compensation in the event of closure due to government measures (imposed by the Canton and/or the Confederation) to combat the pandemic:

In the event that all the ski lifts close due to government measures, the client will be entitled to a refund. The amount of this refund will be proportional to the type of subscription purchased and the number of days of closure due to government measures.

Ski Schools

The measures in place:

  • Meetings for the departure and arrival of classes will be held with masks for teachers and students over the age of 11.
  • Teachers will be provided with an integrated medical mask.
  • Bibs are disposable and single-use.
  • Masks are mandatory during lessons if a distance of 1.5m cannot be guaranteed.
  • Wearing a mask is mandatory in the office, we have plexiglass protection on the desk, premises are regularly disinfected and hand sanitiser is available.
  • The rules related to transport will be applied according to government advice.Please contact the ski schools directly for more information on their T&Cs for reception, booking and cancellation.
 

Accommodation

Hotels:         

  • Wearing a mask is mandatory for staff.
  • Guests are not required to wear a mask (except at the bar, at the entrance of the restaurant or when moving around the restaurant).
  • The movement of customers around communal areas will be organised to ensure social distancing in line with the layout of the location.
  • Buffets will be organised to avoid customers and staff gathering at any point.


Real estate agencies:

  • Wearing a mask is mandatory for customers in real estate agencies.
  • Wearing a mask is mandatory for staff.
  • Ground markings have been made to ensure physical separation.
  • Hand sanitiser is available at the entrance.
  • Maximum number of people allowed inside is indicated at each agency's entrance.
  • 1 person per family in the agency when the keys are handed over.


Chalets and apartment rentals

  • Reinforced cleaning and disinfection protocols with appropriate equipment and antibacterial products.
  • The disinfection dates and procedures will be displayed inside the accommodation.
  • Welcome procedures have been adapted to ensure distancing.
  • Some accommodation suppliers have reinforced preventive and/or cleaning measures (electrostatic spraying of disinfectant, contactless payment preferred...).
Cancellation conditions:
Cancellation and reimbursement of your stay (in an apartment, chalet, hotel, or any other accommodation) in the event of exceptional and unavoidable circumstances having important consequences on your stay (e.g. in the case of border closures, or in the case of services being unavailable due to the Covid-19 crisis), your stay will be reimbursed (excluding administrative and agency fees).

In addition, in case of illness (in particular related to Covid-19), if you take out cancellation insurance, the insurance will cover the reimbursement of your stay *(see cancellation insurance conditions).

We strongly advise you to contact your accommodation provider to find out about their cleaning and safety procedures and booking and cancellation conditions.


Restaurants and bars

Restaurant closures from 26 December 2020 until 22 January 2021 (take-away sales in some establishments) 
  • 4 per table.
  • Mandatory electronic tracking Social Pass.
  • Table service only.
  • 10 pm closing


SPORTS SHOPS

The measures in place:
  • Mask are mandatory in shops.
  • Protective Plexiglas is installed at every workplace and at the till.
  • Material disinfected between each customer.
  •  Hand sanitiser available at the entrance.
 

Transport

Free shuttles

Drivers will wear a mask and will be responsible for the daily disinfection of the vehicles: staircase handles, window sills, armrests, seats etc. Passengers must wear a mask in the shuttles. 
 

Events and entertainment

Here are the measures in place to guarantee your safety during our entertainment and events:
  • Entertainment and events will be outdoors on the whole.
  • Wearing a mask is compulsory from the age of 12.
  • Catering and refreshment staff must wear gloves and masks.
  • Hand sanitiser available at entrances and exits.
  • Equipment cleaning procedures available.
  • Signs in place as a reminder to respect social distancing at the entrance and exit of the site and food/drink outlets
  • Hygiene rules information/awareness/reminder signs in place.
  • Workshop downsizing. 
 

Tourist Office

  • Signage, posters showing safety and prevention measures, customer flow organised and signposted.
  • Reinforced cleaning and disinfection protocols.
  • Masks worn, Plexiglas installed, hand sanitiser available.
  • Premises ventilated.
  • Social distancing respected and an organised flow of customers through the Tourist Office and in queues both inside and out.
  • Contactless payment preferred for entertainment and events as well as for the shop.
  • Limited documentation available to handle with notices such as “If you touch the brochure please take it with you” and signage for online documents such as QR codes for downloads.
  • Seating areas blocked off.
  • No tablets available to the public.
  • Fewer items on reception desks.
  • Extra information in the Tourist Office's external display.
  • Dedicated COVID-19 page on the website and information available at the Tourist Office reception desk on specific health measures taken by businesses, accommodation providers, activity providers, etc.

All Thyon's partners and staff will do their utmost to ensure you have an unforgettable stay but this cannot be done without your cooperation. So we are counting on you to respect the measures recommended during your stay.

If you have the following symptoms:
  • a high temperature,
  • a cough,
  • a sore throat,
  • headaches,
  • or breathing difficulties.
Stay home for everyone's safety.
